This lineage apparently died out in the male Shirley line, legitimate or illigitimate

2(ii). John Shurley born about 1814, age 37 in 1851 census; He was named executor of his father's 1849 will; He was unmarried living with brother Claudius in Kingham in 1861

2(iii). Claudius Shurley - born about 1815, age 36 in 1851 census; He was omitted in father's will, living with brother John Shurley in 1851 census. He was unmarried and farmer of 22 acres in Kingham in 1861 census

2(iv). Elizabeth Shurley - named in her father's 1849 will. Not found in 1841 census household.

2(v). James Shurley born about 1820, age 21 in parent's 1841 census household; He was named in his father's 1849 will. He was age 30 and farming 4 acres of land in Kingham in 1851 census, and again in 1861. He was widowed, age 49, living in Kingham Oxon in the 1871 census, again no children.

married Hannah ______; She was born in Chadlington Oxon according to 1851 census

no children enumerated in the family's census households

2(vi). Charlotte Shurley born about 1824, age 17 in parent's 1841 census household; She was named in her father's 1849 will. She was unmarried and living with brother Claudius in 1861 census. Age 66 in 1891 census, unmarried and living at Kigham

3(i). Joseph Shirley child born out of wedlock, living with mother in 1861 census, still unmarried and living with mother at Kingham in 1871 census, the same 20 years later in 1891, he age 47 his mother Charlotte age 66.

2(vii). Susanna Shurley born about 1830, age 11 in parent's 1841 census household; She was named in her father's 1849 will.
