1. Robert Shirley b. July 10, 1824 Lanarkshire, Scotland, died March 5, 1896 Allerton, Wayne County Iowa. Wife: Betheiah b. ca. 1825 Scotland, died Feb 15, 1885.

2. Dr. John Shirley - born about 1786 at Lanark, Lanarkshire; married Agnes Thomson; family was fairly wealthy and later involved in the printing trade in Edinburgh.

3. John Gold Shirley born June 1836 Lanark, Lanarkshire. Lived Glasgow Govan, Hutchesontown in 1891 Occupation: Pattern maker. Arrived USA Oct 5, 1891. Lived Schenectady NY and died there between 1920 and 1922. Lived with daughter Ellen's family in 1920 NY census. Children lived in New York USA

Renfrewshire

1. Thomas Shirley, born about 1791 Staffordshire. Owned and operated the famous Clyde Pottery in Greenock Renfrewshire.
