(6). Lt. William
SHIRLEY born about 1760; died 1807, They lived
on Home Lot #124 in Chester, Rockingham Co NH. He was a prominent
figure in the militia and was for several years also clerk of
the Presbyterian Parish after his brother Hugh Shirley.
m. Mary Morrison 1788.
She was of Londonderry, born ca. 1769 and died July 1843, age
83..

d. April 7, 1875, Never married and lived on the homestead.
B. James SHIRLEY born May 1, 1791 Chester, Rockingham
Co NH, He was a blacksmith, resided in Chester, Derry ,
Goffstown and Manchester. He and his family (without wife) appear
in the 1850 Hillsborough Co census; He died at his daughter's
home in Goffstown Mar 21, 1863
This Vermont
bio says James Shirley's father was Robert Shirley - "Robert Shirley served
in the War of 1812, and resided in Chester, N.H., where he died
at about seventy years of age. James, one of his four children,
married Clara Forsyth, and had born to him four children, namely,
Lucinda, Margaret, George H. and John. (Ed: see 1850 Hillsborough
Co Census) The last mentioned married Dorcas Collins, and has
one daughter, Clara E. His wife died in 1876, aged forty-four
years. Mr. Shirley served in the late war, in 3d Vt. Bat. and
now resides in Lyndonville." Gazetteer of Caledonia and

Haselton surname has been confirmed through the death records
of dau Lucinda Ferson and Margaret Shirley)

Goffstown, age 76; She married John Ferson Mar 19, 1862 at Manchester
(or Goffstown) when she was 37.
(b). Margaret Ann SHIRLEY born Feb 22, 1831 Derry. She enjoyed
the distinction of being the oldest resident of Shirley Hill
and one of the oldest in the town when she died Oct 5, 1917 at
Goffstown.

she married William Shirley, her husband's brother.

(f). John Achin (Aiken) SHILREY born at Chester 13 June 1835/6. Educated
in the public schools in Chester and worked at home on the farm
with his father until he was sixteen year old. He then worked
out on various farms in the vacinity until he was of age, living
at home most of the time. he then went to work in a grist mill
at Danversport, Mass and continued there until 1850 when he went
to Lawrence to work in a grist mill. After three years he took
a lease of the property and conducted the mill on his own account
for a short time. He finally engaged in his present business
of market gardening buying the farm on which he now lives in
Methuen Mass for that purpose. He has about 65 acres of land
in the estate. In recent years his sons have been associated
with him in the business and they have greatly prospered. He
is an attendant of the Congregationalist church. In politics
a Republican. He is an influential and prominent citizen. - Genealogical

D. William SHIRLEY Feb 26, 1799 Goffstown d. Mar 20, 1860;
He was a farmer and they resided on the southerly side of Shirley
Hill near Bedford line, upon a farm which was early owned about
1759 by John Dinsmore, a soldier of the Revolution. He was somewhat
prominent in town affairs, holding the office of selectman.

in the town in when she died Oct 5, 1917.

in the schools of his native town, was a poet of more than ordinary
ability. His reputation was not confined to his native
state but was extended throughout New England.
