2(iii). Embley P. Shirley born 1 June 1809 Kentucky (bible record). He was enumerated in Scott Co Kentucky tax lists for 1836 and 1837 with brother Militus Shirley, both taxed without land. He is presumed to be the E. P. Shirley enumerated in Woodford Co KY in the 1840 census. Supporting this idea is his marriage to a Mary Jane Hitt. In the 1840 census, E P Shirley is enumerated next to Nathan Hitt, whose earlier records show a child named Mary Jane Hitt. (Thanks to Bill for making this connection) Embly was next enumerated in Boone Co IN in the 1850 census, age 41. Lived in the Harrison Township, Howard Co IN in 1860 census; He died 22 June 1866 Howard Co. Indiana. Burial place unknown. Descendants lived in Webster Co. Nebraska and Vermillion Co. Illinois.
