Note: In 1933,
Mrs Vance Rankin applied to the US government for military headstones
for both Wm S Shirley (above) and Richard Charles Shirley (b.
and d correct below). Her application cites the correct birth
date for William, but identifies a very curious death date 3
June 1789. Was her application in error, or are we talking about
a different pair of Williams and Richards?

The following
have long been claimed as children of William Stubley Shurley
Jr (as siblings of Richard Charles Shurley of Jones Co GA), as
published in 'Roster of Revolutionary War Soldiers in Georgia,
Vol 3', by McCall (1941). But the source contains a clear
error w.r.t Mahaley Parker (below). She is specifically mentioned
as a daughter in the 1841 will of William Shirley of Warren Co
GA, who is not the same William as above - thus the entire list
is suspect and likely a product of early flawed connect-the-dots
genealogy research; Confirmation needed.
James Shirley born about 1783 (Triplets)

Mahaley Shirley born about 1785 ('Roster'
source says she married Parker, but this marriage did not take
place until 1832 in Warren Co GA, and is likely referring to
another person, so is this source accurate?)
Mary Shirley born about 1786. Nothing more known.
